2021 was definitely the year of the PreSales professional. In our recent PreSales Leadership Collective Executive Summit, we celebrated this exciting and energizing year by reviewing all the progress we’ve made and the growth we’ve seen.
The PreSales Collective Community
We founded the PreSales Collective in April 2020. Our goal for this group was to highlight this profession that’s given us so much.
So many resources exist for sales professionals, but there wasn’t the same breadth and depth of resources for PreSales. We set out to change that. The PreSales Collective provides resources, knowledge, mentors, and networks to help every PreSales professional develop a long and successful career in this space.
And the community is at the heart of everything we do. As we look at all we’ve accomplished, and the work still left to do, it’s been amazing to see our mission to elevate the role of PreSales grow faster than we ever expected.
The PreSales Leadership Collective is another way we’re working to expand and elevate our profession - it’s a private membership community to connect leaders within an exclusive network. It came about because sometimes leaders need a private space to themselves, and that’s what the Leadership Collective provides. It’s focused on elevating the brand and role of PreSales, and offers leaders a support system as well.
The Year of the PreSales Professional
2021 has been a year of incredible growth and advances in the PreSales profession as a whole. In fact, an entire PreSales ecosystem has grown up this year. There’s been a massive amount of investment and development in our space - over $300 million in VC funding this year alone. And the number of products created for PreSales is growing every month. PreSales trainers and educators are popping up everywhere, and there were 72,000 open PreSales roles in the last 30 days according to Linkedin.
We’ve seen more innovation in the past twelve months than in the previous decade. The momentum we’ve had together as a profession is just amazing.
This growth is thrilling - and a little astonishing. Our profession has been around a long time, but we’ve been in need of an ecosystem and a way to get a seat at the executive table. In 2021, we got much closer to those goalposts.
We’re at the center of influence, but not always recognized or offered a seat at the table, and that’s what the PreSales Collective is all about.
My personal philosophy is that when you get out of your four walls, that’s when innovation happens. The PreSales Collective is here to help you do just that. We want to help you get different perspectives, get external validation, and find people who are solving the same problems as you are.
