Technical Account Director - California

My client are a leading chemical reagent manufacturer serving multiple industries (Pharma, Agro, Nutraceuticals, Industrial etc). Recently they have invested heavily in their Life Science division, focusing on selling both products and GMP services to the biopharma space. They have 3 sites globally (US and UK) and around 300 employees.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of B2B sales experience in selling specialty chemicals and CDMO services and solutions.
  • University level advanced degree in Chemistry.
  • Strong portfolio or customer relationship in the Western US.
  • Successful sales experience in life science customers serviced by the chemical/service industry.
  • Ability to drive existing business as well as develop new business.
  • Proven track record of developing sales plans and following up on the execution to achieve growth goals.
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with external and internal customers.
  • Ability to market/sell products at multiple levels within an organization and to multiple functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the customers in North & Latin America with a focus on West Coast.
  • Consistently deliver on monthly and quarterly AOP (Annual Operating Plan) targets of volume, revenue, and profitability.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for major customers and promote the company's value propositions in their territory to develop new business.
  • Identify growth areas to build and maintain a healthy project pipeline.
  • Nurture relationships with existing customers and new prospects by coordinating with Business Development Leaders to expand breadth and depth of contacts to identify new opportunities.
  • Develop and follow up on new business leads, and bring them to commercial success with the assistance of Technical and Marketing team members
  • Work closely with Marketing to translate customer needs into Value Proposition that lead to commercial success.
  • Work closely with Technical Support to translate chemistry into commercial success.
  • In collaboration with Marketing, provide competitive analysis and intelligence, understand market dynamics.
  • Attend industry events and conferences as needed to support commercial and market development activities.
