Data and Solutions Engineer

​

The Data and Solutions Engineer will report to and work closely with the AVP of IT and Solution Engineer Lead to support the strategic vision for bringing together application solutions for underwriting and workflow and data analysis. Critical thinking and analytical mindset are central for this role.

Key Functions Include but are not limited to:

• Develop, test and implement application solutions that provide automation and efficiency for underwriting and finance teams.
• Directly work with IT teams and Solution Engineer Lead to gather requirements, work closely with database structures and develop applications
• Translating business requirement to technical solutions.
• Problem solver mindset
• Excellent communication skills and focus on customer
• Able to adapt to working with multiple teams and tools to provide the most robust automation solutions
• Work with innovation team at BOG to provide guidance and advise on underwriting processes and automation related to application development.
• Work closely with IT data team members to enhance and develop any ETL related to applications that support underwriter tools.
• Answer and support ad-hoc queries by underwriting to facilitate reporting and data analysis.
• Develop and support VBA scripts, Python, HTML, SQL, API
• Develop SQL Server queries.
• Design and develop data structures (i.e. tables, views, procedures) in database related to support and future underwriter tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
• 2 to 3 years experience developing Visual Basic for Applications
• 2 to 3 years experience in SQL programming (Microsoft SQL Server tools)
• 2 to 3 years experience in Python programming
• 2 to 3 years experience with API development and integration
• Knowledge and ability to work in JIRA tools.
• Understanding of data warehouse and database ETL processes
• Knowledge and ability work with analytics and business intelligence tools like Tableau
• Familiar with Agile or similar methodologies
• Technical ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
• Detail oriented with good follow-through skills.
• Must be self started and able to collaborate to implement robust business solutions.
