Sun IP is seeking an experienced, results-driven individual to lead and grow our United States-based sales and business development team. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for coaching, a knack for developing innovative and effective sales strategies, and a desire to travel to represent our company at key industry events.
The ideal candidate will be a friendly, collaborative, high energy, low-ego team-player who is open to input and driven to create improvements to consistently deliver positive results. Your insights, coaching and example will be pivotal in developing and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development and Sales Strategy:
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and expand market share.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to inform strategy development and adjustment.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align sales strategies with overall business objectives and growth plans.
Industry Knowledge and Insight:
- Stay informed about industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to provide valuable insights and keep the sales team ahead of the curve.
- Regularly review industry reports, participate in webinars, and engage with thought leaders to continuously enhance knowledge and apply it to sales strategies.
- Use industry knowledge to refine sales pitches, anticipate market shifts, and adjust strategies to meet evolving client needs and preferences.
Team Leadership and Motivation:
- Lead, mentor, and coach the small sales team (2 managers and 10-15 business development representatives) to enhance their skills and overall performance.
- Create an environment of drive and energy to achieve objectives.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to individuals to address weaknesses and enhance strengths.
- Monitor progress toward goals and make data-driven decisions to improve sales outcomes.
- Recognize and reward appropriate behaviors and desired results.
- Nurture a positive, fun, collaborative, results-oriented culture.
Travel and Conferences:
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to stay abreast of market trends and establish valuable connections.
- Leverage insights gained from conferences to refine sales strategies and identify new business opportunities.
- Organize and lead team participation in relevant events to enhance brand visibility and foster professional development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a successful salesperson and sales team leader.
- Legal knowledge a plus.
- Strong understanding of sales processes, methodologies and performance metrics.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to use data for decision-making.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and team-building skills.
- Ability to motivate and develop others.
- Motivation and drive to rapidly learn about the business’s industry, its target customers and end-users, its competitive positioning and other factors impacting success.
