Description

Position Overview 

The Director, Field Sales Training is responsible to develop and execute training/education programs for field-based, customer-facing employees. This person will develop the learning objectives, curriculum and training content for the Shockwave product lines in coordination with business strategies. This person will turn business strategy into commercial reality by leading a sales training team through developing, communicating and executing a robust offering of global programs including clinical and influencing / selling skills. This role will partner with Marketing and Sales leadership to develop and execute new hire and ongoing training programs. With the extensive and rapid growth our company has experienced over the past few years to support the adoption of IVL (Intravascular Lithotripsy), the successful candidate has a tremendous opportunity to enhance existing and develop new courses, delivering a comprehensive learning curriculum and training program for an industry leading sales force.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for sales training content development and execution through self and others. Capacity to lead through influence and embrace fast-paced, solution-oriented culture.
  • Responsible for leadership and development of Sales Training team and team members.
  • Develop and deliver product, disease state and clinical skills-based training programs to the field sales organization aligned with organizational strategy and priorities.
  • Develop and deliver non-clinical skills assessments and training programs for the field sales organization and sales leadership aligned with role competency models.
  • Execute in-person, virtual, and/or hybrid product training programs for new hires and tenured employees.
  • Develop and/or collaborate with product marketing team to create, launch, and evaluate effectiveness of training content for field sales force on an ongoing basis.
  • Drive the development of training content, ensure content is continually up to date and manage/administer the various platforms used for training delivery.
  • Develop and maintain competency assessments and certification program.
  • Generate regular performance metrics and dashboards related to training program effectiveness, update sales leadership on a regular basis.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of product and procedural training modules; collect and compile feedback and incorporate conclusions from analysis into design and implementation of new/modified programs
  • Establish and develop key internal and external relationships, including cross functional teams, field teams and thought leaders to support sales training objectives.
  • Travel in field regularly to assess field force knowledge and identify future learning needs.
  • Accountable to develop and monitor global budget for education & training programs.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in education, training, sales, or marketing in the med-tech space, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Sales Training leading curriculum development and applying adult learning principles required.
  • Experience managing people is required, preferably in field sales.
  • Previous cardiovascular domain experience preferred, ideally in coronary or peripheral vascular interventional medicine.
  • Experience administrating / managing learning management systems including development and delivery of online learning modules.
  • Strong execution track record demonstrating quality results, on time and on budget.
  • Experience developing and presenting innovative solutions to meet business needs.
  • Ability to successfully work cross functionally and with team members and vendors in the US and International markets.
  • Strategic Thinking: combines business intelligence and forward thinking to determine broader consequences of long-term decisions and actions.
  • Executive Presence: possesses the ability to inspire others to be assertive in their roles through the consistent demonstration of confidence and clear leadership.
  • Execution Focused: sets a plan and implements it accordingly.
  • Minimum 20% travel, depending on location of the individual.

Market Range

San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) Market Range: 193,000 - 241,000

 All Other US Locations (Outside of SFBA):  164,000 - 205,000

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
