The SAP Implementation Project Manager owns the SAP project deliverables and is responsible for the day-to-day project management of the implementation. Serve as the primary liaison with the steering committee and Executive Sponsor, as well as any external entities involved in the implementation. Must proactively anticipate project deviations and be responsible for taking immediate corrective action. Responsible for obtaining an understanding of the overall system and business process integration in the OEM environment.

Responsibilities include:  

  • Execution of the SAP implementation plan, makes day to day decisions
  • Serves as a member of the SAP steering committee, provide status reports to the Program Executive and Steering Committee for the operational success of the project 
  • Secure/manage OEM project resources
  • Review and sign-off project deliverables. 
  • Review and approve subsequent task orders, project scope and project deliverables
  • Participate in the development of a detailed project plan
  • Participate in the development of Project Controls including:
  •  Scope Control
  •  Issue Resolution
  •  Documentation Strategy
  •  Status Reporting
  •  Quality Standards and Review
  • Execute project controls
  • Lead effort in determining project team training requirements
  • Monitor and control project budget
  • Manages tactical activities of project team
  • Fosters team development
  • Manages project communication, escalates issues accordingly

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred. 
  • Knowledge of all business processes. Ideally, this person should have a proven, good standing in the organization. Must be able to participate in decomposition of the company’s business processes. 
  • A strong belief in, and support for, SAP as a solution for the organization. 
  • Knowledge and experience with major company-wide projects, 1-2 successful SAP implementations. 
  • Strong leadership, project and team management experience. 
  • Can prepare and propose major company decisions and address the change management impact of these decisions. 
  • The ability to work effectively with all levels of management; providing detailed guidance to project team members. 
  • A big picture view of the project’s goals, while performing detailed analysis tasks. This includes controlling scope. 
  • Time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities. 
  • Superior presentation, oral, and written communication skills. 
  • Proven negotiation skills. 
  • The ability and authority to make timely decisions. 
  • Strong organizational and motivational skills. 
  • Advanced application software skills, including presentation, spreadsheet, word processing, and project management applications.
