POSITION PURPOSE

The role for the Sr. Manager, Biosimilars Training, is to lead training program development while executing training for core brand launches, new hire training and Sales Team Developmental programming. This role covers L&D needs supporting the North America and Canada Biosimilars Sales Representatives, Sales Leaders and National Accounts. This position will be responsible for the strategic development, management and delivery of field training activities that are aligned to overall sales, marketing, compliance and business strategies in the Oncology and Immunology therapeutic areas. In order to be successful, this highly visible position will leverage e-learning tools and adult learning techniques to ensure that training initiatives are structured to address product sales and marketing initiatives. This role manages and delivers all training initiatives for the Viatris Biosimilars Sales Team and will focus on the Oncology and Immunology therapeutic areas, but may include others as products come to market.

*This role will have a Manager, Sales Training as a direct report that will also lead and execute L&D initiatives for North America.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, design, facilitate, instruct and evaluate training classes on Biosimilar and branded products, therapeutic categories and selling skills and update the courses regularly to meet the needs of the sales organization. Evaluate therapeutic area strategy and develop initial and continuous learning curriculum aligned with individual product training.
  • Lead and Facilitate New hire Training Sessions (~5 per year in the Bridgewater, NJ office), Advanced selling sessions and POA / Launch meeting workshops creation for Biosimilars sales teams in partnership with business and marketing stakeholders.
  • Lead skill and competency training for Sales Representatives and First-Line Leaders (Leadership skills / programming, competency skills workshops, etc.).
  • Deliver training via both live and remote technology (ZOOM, TEAMS, etc.) as well as live classroom modalities for a capable hybrid-learning experience.
  • Provide pro-active and strategic oversight the development and implementation of product and sales skills curriculum development. Possesses strong project management skills.
  • Manage vendor/partner relationships in the development of product and skill curriculum, including budget oversight. Must be able to work independently with agency partners.
  • Capable of presenting learning and development strategies to senior business leads as well as lead periodic needs analysis with clear understanding of cost structure, creation and execution process and estimated delivery timing.
  • Utilize knowledge of blended learning modalities to develop continuous learning initiatives (product or selling skill specific) to support the on-going development of Biosimilar and branded generic sales force.
  • Collaborate closely as an integral member of the sales leadership, compliance, legal, marketing and operations teams, applying instructional system design methodology to ensure business plan goals are integrated into all learning activities. Partner closely with Sr. Training manager on joint initiatives.
  • Participate actively in assessing learning needs, via formal needs analyses, of the sales organization and in developing training strategies and plans for established and new products.
  • Provide classroom, in-field and distance learning curriculum to sales representatives, managers and strategic partners.
  • Serve as a leader in maintaining and applying current understanding of the Biosimilars Team, and Institutional business with regulatory and compliance environment.
  • Support product launches by close partnership with the therapeutic, brand and Biosimilar marketing teams (marketing leads), developing materials.
  • Independently design/develop new training programs and concepts while managing internal and external support.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Head of Commercial Excellence, Biocon Biologics.

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE 

  • 2-3 years in Oncology strongly preferred.
  • Experience in Adult learning principles.
  • Teaching or L&D experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with professional selling skills programs.
  • Field Sales Training in generic or brand pharmaceutical selling experience highly preferred.
  • Corporate training preferred.
  • Familiarity with Account Management & Contracting principles is a plus.
  • Immunology, Biologics, Branded injectable, Specialty pharmacy, Buy-and Bill knowledge strongly preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work independently and self-motivated to make a difference with the team.
  • Polished platform skills, excellent written communication, and experience as group facilitator.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong Facilitation and Presentation skills required.
  • Proven leadership in a team environment and ability to collaborate with wide variety of strategic partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply metrics and track key performance indicators to facilitate evidence-based learning strategies.
  • Understands and can apply of principles of adult learning.
  • Excellent Cross-Functional Collaboration skills to work inter-departmentally.
  • Strong Project design/development, project management skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and minimum of 5 years of Pharmaceutical/Medical sales experience required. Biosimilar and/or Oncology sales experience strongly preferred. Understanding of the Buy-and-bill space as well as specialty pharmacy product sales experience strongly preferred. However, a combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration. Sales Leadership or commercial leadership experience required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Certifications in formal learning methodology is highly advantageous (ISD, Experiential Learning, Metrics and Evaluation).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret complex business and/or technical documents. Ability to write comprehensive reports and detailed business correspondence. Ability to work with managers or directors and communicate ambiguous concepts. Ability to present to groups across the organization.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems with a variety of concrete variables through semi-standardized solutions that require some ingenuity and analysis. Ability to draw inferences and follow prescribed and detailed procedures to solve moderately complex problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Typically sitting at a desk or table. Intermittently sitting, standing, or walking during training weeks. Periodic travel is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Normal office situation when in office; remote work from home environment alternatively.

Travel

Travel will be required (25%) for all live training events held at the home office in Bridgewater, NJ and off-site locations (POA and National meetings, conferences, business meetings), which could be 7-10 week-long sessions per year with company meetings and events included. This travel would include required field visits, business or sales team meetings and training conferences.
