We are looking for a Solutions Engineer to join our team in Rockville, MD with a focus on designing and delivering solutions in different projects with Icomera’s innovative products. The Solutions Engineer will work to deliver project-based system engineering workstreams and work packages, ensuring Icomera solutions are delivered to a consistent, high quality, tested standard, compliant to the customer and contractual requirements. This role will support technical sales opportunities by providing high quality technology solution designs and architectures to the sales team and contribute to solution proposals and commercial discussions during all stages of the sales process. The position will report to the Head of Engineering for North America. You will be part of our global team across all locations such as Italy, France and Sweden, where the Icomera HQ is located.

Responsibilities:

  • Review customer requirements and best practice guidelines to design the solution architecture to meet the customer demands.
  • Secure technical solutions and support to sales teams and conducts technical analysis of system configurations to determine customer specific pricing
  • Prepare designs and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, deployment, installation, testing and/or commissioning of solutions.
  • Perform site surveys to develop and/or evaluate the installation design
  • Prepare and conduct technical sales briefings for customer and company representatives
  • Evaluate sales proposals to ensure they are technically accurate and consistent with the organization’s quality standards
  • Lead and own the project’s design documentation (i.e. system architecture, solution designs, BOM, Installation & commissioning procedure)
  • Refine and accurately document the system architecture design that will be implemented
  • Produce base system configuration files and document procedures to roll these out on a larger scale
  • Participate in First in Class Installations, make changes/modifications to fit installations
  • Lead, complete and document customer solution testing, including, but not limited to, , First Article Inspections, Functional, Static & Dynamic Acceptance Testing & Commissioning
  • Support the efficient and smooth transition of solutions into operational support including providing support and guidance for implementation issues
  • Resolve/troubleshoot implementation problems and conduct initial user training
  • Support, guide, and train Field Systems Engineers
  • Request quotation via a documented process from third parties and subcontractors
  • Own and drive requests to Supply Chain for new part numbers and hardware configuration 
  • Spot opportunities for upselling based on technical demands
  • Support knowledge sharing and education within the Solution Engineering team, other Icomera departments customers and other external stakeholders.

Who we are looking for:

You should be driven and be able to form long-term trusting relationships both internally and externally. You should be a highly organized self-starter who can prioritize delivering high quality results according to demanding timelines. You make sure to support your colleagues when they need it, and in turn they will be there to support you. Occasional travel to HQ as well as project based travel will be necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, software engineering, data science or ICT networking or similar. Master’s degree preferred in communication engineering or wireless engineering.
  • 3+ years working in a sales and project engineering role in the ICT environment, preferably within industrial networks.
  • Fluent (written and spoken) in English. Other language-skills are a plus but not a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong negotiation, organizational and presentation skills
