Job Description

​

The Solution Engineer at Loggerhead Insurance is responsible for the development and implementation of complex mathematical computations and algorithms supporting policy administration, rating and billing features. This role requires extensive experience in system development using JavaScript programming, particularly in fintech and insurance sectors. Engineer is methodical with a solutions-oriented mindset and is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

​

• Design, develop, and maintain JavaScript-based policy, rating and billing modules.
• Implement complex mathematical computations and algorithms using JavaScript.
• Document generation using HTML, Liquid templating engine and JSON data.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test cases and deployment procedures.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for solutions.
• Work with business stakeholders, project managers, and other developers to ensure software meets performance and quality standards while addressing integration and operational requirements. 
• Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of JavaScript applications.
• Identify and resolve technical issues.
• Stay up to date with the latest JavaScript technologies and trends.

Required Skills

​

• Strong understanding of policy, rating and billing systems principles.
• Expertise in JavaScript and related frameworks, including ES6+ features.
• Proficiency in programming complex mathematical computations.
• Knowledge of back-end technologies (e.g., NodeJS, ExpressJS, Tomcat).
• Proficiency with HTML, CSS and templating Engines (e.g. Liquid, Mustache).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Good understanding of RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) and best practices for testing and code quality.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

​

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in JavaScript development.
• Proven ability to program complex mathematical computations.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Insurance industry knowledge is a plus.
• Socotra, Guidewire or Duck Creek experience is a plus.
