The VP, Sales is accountable for achieving defined regional sales goals in support of the overall growth targets established by Covenant’s strategic growth plan.

  • Aligns the Regional sales organization’s objectives with firm business strategy through active participation in sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning, and budgeting.
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume, market share, and other key financial performance objectives.
  • Participates in establishing performance metrics and managing the assigned sales organization’s performance through the sales management system. 
  • Accountable for the assigned sales market budget. Continuously assessing and offering feedback on existing sales organization support investments, including those in technology, training, and administrative support. Ensures support investments yield productivity benefits consistent with established objectives. 
  • Advocates sales organization change initiatives by working with SVP Sales and Marketing continuously assessing the need for organizational change, advocating change initiatives, and working within a constructive plan developed for organizational change.
  • Establishes and maintains productive peer-to-peer relationships with customers and prospects.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects occurring simultaneously, multi-tasking, sense of urgency for goal achievement, and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of company key clients and their position in the industry.
  • Desire to expand the company with new sales, clients, and territories.
  • Ability to analyze data and sales statistics and translate results into better solutions.
  • Advanced motivational and negotiation skills, with ability to follow-through on client commitments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be a listener, a presenter, and a people-person.
  • Extensive knowledge of transportation and supply chain solutions
  • Basic computer skills, and experience with CRM software and the Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on superior Excel skills.

Education and Experience 

  • B.A. or equivalent in a related business, sales, marketing, logistics, or management
  • Minimum 7-10 years of related experience
  • At least 3-5 years in a management position within a Corporate Office setting
