Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Government Sales to drive strategic sales initiatives for unattended POS (Point-of-Sale) solutions in the public sector. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a sales strategy that expands our presence within federal, state, and local government agencies, including transit authorities, military bases, municipal services, and other public-sector entities requiring secure, self-service payment solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in government sales, deep knowledge of procurement processes, and expertise in unattended payment technologies, including kiosks, vending, ticketing, and automated retail solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a government sales strategy to expand market share for unattended POS solutions
- Identify and pursue RFPs, RFIs, and other government procurement opportunities
- Establish and manage a government sales pipeline, ensuring consistent growth and revenue targets are met
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, procurement officers, and contracting officers
- Develop partnerships with system integrators, contractors, and government resellers
- Represent the company at government industry events, conferences, and trade shows
- Navigate complex government procurement policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local contracting regulations
- Stay updated on government spending trends, funding allocations, and new policy developments
- Work with legal and compliance teams to support contract negotiations, certifications, and regulatory requirements
- Stay informed on emerging technologies in unattended payments, cashless transactions, and secure POS solutions
- Provide feedback to product development teams on government-specific payment solution needs
- Work closely with marketing, finance, and operations to tailor solutions for government clients
- Develop sales presentations, white papers, and case studies to support government sales initiatives
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in government sales, preferably in fintech, payment solutions, or unattended retail
- Deep understanding of government procurement processes, GSA contracts, and cooperative purchasing agreements
- Proven ability to win and manage large government contracts
- Strong knowledge of compliance requirements such as PCI-DSS, FISMA, and other government security mandates
- Established network within federal, state, and municipal government agencies
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to travel as needed for client meetings, industry events, and conferences
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Public Administration, or a related field; MBA preferred
- Experience working with GSA Schedules, State Contracts, or Cooperative Purchasing Agreements (e.g., NASPO, OMNIA, Sourcewell)
- Prior experience working in a government relations, contracting, or procurement-focused role
- Experience selling unattended POS, payment kiosks, vending solutions, or transit fare systems is a plus
