Position Title: Senior Solutions Engineer

Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid) (4 days onsite a week) looking for only local folks of DMV area.

Position Overview

​

The Senior Solutions Engineer will be an integral part of our Enterprise Backup Team, responsible for supporting and enhancing enterprise backup solutions, including IBM Spectrum Protect and other related systems. This role involves various technical tasks, including server enhancements, upgrades, data migrations, and ensuring compliance with backup solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and upgrade the IBM Spectrum Protect server for enterprise backup applications.
• Conduct quarterly client upgrades and ensure compliance with patching requirements.
• Migrate enterprise backup data from legacy TSM systems to IBM Spectrum Protect servers.
• Perform quarterly AIX upgrades and manage the decommissioning of legacy TSM servers.
• Configure Quantum Scalar i6000 for new IBM Spectrum Protect servers.
• Decommission and destroy legacy LTO8 tapes as required.
• Upgrade Dell Unity storage systems firmware periodically.
• Design and implement airgap solutions for enterprise backup data to enhance cyber protection.
• Automate client upgrades using Ansible and analyze cloud storage integration.
• Manage Oracle RMAN backup configuration and support backups in Azure Cloud workloads.
• Conduct disaster recovery tests and enhance VEEAM backup solutions.
• Provide backup support for ongoing WMATA projects and perform daily monitoring and troubleshooting of backup jobs.
• Support database administrators and system administrators with backup system data statistics and periodic restores.
• Install and maintain IBM LPAR configuration software, tune ISP applications, and manage Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA).
• Ensure compliance with PCI and financial audits related to enterprise backups.

Qualifications

​

​

• 5+ years of experience with Oracle Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA).
• 5+ years of experience in installation and maintenance of IBM LPAR configuration software.
• 6+ years of experience in AIX and RHEL OS enhancements and upgrades.
• 6+ years of experience with Dell Unity Storage Systems.
• 3+ years of experience managing IBM Spectrum Protect licenses.
